What is the difference between a paver and a slab, using Blu 60 Slate and Blu 80 as examples?

Blu 60 Slate is a 60 mm (2⅜″) pedestrian-grade slab designed for patios, walkways, and poolside areas. Blu 80 is thicker at 80 mm (3⅛″) and functions as a paver, built for driveways and vehicle loads.

How does Blu 60 Slate differ from Blu 60 Slate HD²?

The HD² version has a denser surface with fewer pores, meaning lower water absorption and greater durability. It also delivers richer, more vibrant colors, especially in blended shades like Champlain Grey and Shale Grey.

Is Blu 60 Slate ADA compliant?

Yes. Its textured finish provides slip resistance that complies with ANSI A326.3 and ADA standards, ensuring safety in high-traffic pedestrian areas.

Does the Slate texture improve traction?

Yes. The natural stone–like texture is inherently slip-resistant and has been tested to ANSI A326.3 wet DCOF standards, making it reliable in wet environments such as pool decks.

Can Blu 60 Slate handle de-icing salts in winter?

Yes. Techo-Bloc slabs, including Blu 60 Slate, are manufactured to withstand freeze-thaw cycles and exposure to de-icing salts.

Do Blu 60 Slate slabs need sealing?

Can Blu 60 Slate be installed in driveways?

No. Blu 60 Slate is intended for pedestrian use only. For driveways or other vehicle-bearing applications, use Blu 80 at 80 mm (3⅛″).

How thick is Blu 60 compared to Blu 80?

Blu 60 is 60 mm (2⅜″), while Blu 80 measures 80 mm (3⅛″). The extra 20 mm provides the strength needed for vehicular traffic.

What jointing sand is recommended for Blu 60 Slate?
