Our Valet pavers are a great way to add character and a touch of luxury to any driveway. These 6 ½ by 6 ½ inch square shaped units come in six colors, and offer much versatility for mixing and matching, and pattern creation. Inspired by lava rock/basalt stone, the highly textured surface of the Valet paver brings added visual interest to bandings, mosaics and complete pavements with the same salt-resistant qualities you expect of Techo-Bloc’s dry cast line.

What base thickness is recommended for Valet pavers?

For patios and walkways, use 4 to 6 in (100 to 150 mm) of compacted 0 to 3/4 in (0 to 20 mm) crushed stone on sandy or gravelly soils, or 6 to 8 in (150 to 200 mm) on clayey or silty soils. For driveways, use 6 to 10 in (150 to 250 mm) on sandy or gravelly soils, or 8 to 14 in (200 to 350 mm) on clayey or silty soils.

What jointing sand should be used for Valet pavers?

What edge restraints are recommended for Valet pavers?

Use plastic, aluminum, steel or concrete edge restraints anchored into the compacted base. In vehicular applications, curbstones set in mortar must be reinforced with steel rods.

Can sand-filled Valet pavers be installed on an open-graded base?

Can Valet pavers be installed over concrete?

Yes, over sound concrete only, with a suitable overlay detail, drainage path and edge restraint. The concrete slab must be stable, properly sloped and free of major cracking.

Can Valet pavers be installed on a slope?

Yes, with proper excavation and drainage. Techo-Bloc's paver guide recommends a 1.5% slope, equal to 3/16 in per ft.

How should Valet pavers be compacted during installation?

Small-format square cobblestone

A single 6 1/2 in (165 mm) square unit repeats into the fine, close-set grid of old street cobble. The Basalt texture gives each unit a quarried face rather than a flat cast surface.

Rain-friendly permeable option

Valet is listed as a permeable paver. Installed as part of a permeable pavement system, its wide joints let rainwater pass through the surface instead of running off it.

Rated for the residential driveway

Valet is rated for residential vehicular use, so the same cobble can run from the driveway through to the front walkway without a change in scale.

What can you build with Valet pavers?

Driveways

A driveway in Valet reads as a courtyard rather than a parking spot. The small square repeats all the way to the garage door, and the checkerboard layout lets you set a border or a centre panel without bringing in a second product.

Patios

On a patio, the close-set squares keep the eye moving and make a modest space feel considered. Furniture sits flat on the surface, and the fine grid works as well under a dining table as it does around a fire bowl.

Pool decks

Around a pool, the textured face keeps its grip underfoot and the tight joints give a clean edge to work the coping against. A lighter tone is the easier choice for a deck people cross barefoot in full sun.

Walkways

A walkway in Valet holds its line around curves and steps because the unit is small enough to follow the path instead of fighting it. The same cobble carries from the driveway to the front door in one continuous surface.

Accent borders and mosaic details

Valet is small enough to work as detail. Run it as a border around a field of larger pavers, set a checkerboard panel at an entry, or play two tones against each other to draw a mosaic that marks where the patio ends and the garden begins.
