Can Brandon be used for both retaining and freestanding walls?

Yes. Brandon is designed for both retaining and freestanding applications when built according to Techo-Bloc installation and design guidelines.

Are Brandon walls double-sided?

Yes. Both the 90 mm and 180 mm Brandon units feature a double-sided finish, making them ideal for seat walls, garden dividers, and features visible from both sides.

Are Brandon blocks frost- and salt-resistant?

Yes. Brandon is made with high-density dry-cast concrete engineered to resist freeze-thaw cycles and normal residential de-icing salts. See care guide instructions here.

Can lighting be added to Brandon walls?

Absolutely. Brandon walls can integrate low-voltage undercap or accent lighting. Conduits should be installed before setting caps.

How do you clean Brandon wall surfaces?

Rinse the surface, then use Flexlock Shampoo for general cleaning or Efflorescence Cleaner for white mineral deposits. Finish with a thorough water rinse. See care guide instructions here.

What caps go with Brandon walls?

Brandon pairs seamlessly with Techo-Bloc caps such as York, Raffinato, or matching Brandon caps for consistent styling and fit.

What is the warranty for Brandon walls?

Brandon walls are covered by Techo-Bloc’s transferable lifetime warranty for residential structural integrity under normal use.

Can Brandon walls be used for seat walls or fire features?

Yes. Brandon’s double-sided design and clip system make it perfect for seat walls, fire pits, and outdoor kitchen surrounds when installed on a stable, level base.

Are Brandon blocks hollow or solid?

Brandon units are cored blocks with vertical cavities and anchoring clips for alignment, interlock, and stability.

What is the maximum height for Brandon walls?

Freestanding walls can reach up to 29 7/16 in. (750 mm). Reinforced retaining walls can reach about 8–10 ft. (2.4–3.0 m) when engineered with proper base, drainage, and geogrid.

What base and drainage preparation is required for Brandon walls?

Preparation includes excavation to competent subgrade and installation of a compacted granular leveling pad, typically at least 6 in. (150 mm) thick. For retaining walls, provide a perforated drainpipe and 3/4 in. clean stone backfill behind the wall.

What height limits apply for slopes vs. level ground?

When the ground above the wall slopes upward, it creates additional loads. The allowable unreinforced wall height is reduced, and geogrid layers may need to increase in number and length. Consult our retaining wall design charts.

Can Brandon walls be combined with Raffinato Smooth, Brandon, or York caps?

Yes. All are compatible: choose Raffinato for a sleek modern contrast, York for a classic edge, or Brandon caps for a cohesive textured look.

Are there specific lighting integration details for Brandon walls?

Yes. Plan conduit runs and fixture placements before capping. Use low-voltage Techo-Bloc lighting rated for outdoor masonry environments.
