Elevating Community Through Peaceful Design
As the first phase of Dearborn’s $29.2M PEACE Project, Peace Park West set the tone for the city’s vision of civic spaces that promote unity, wellness, and year-round use. Designed as the city’s first official “peace park,” it offers shaded walkways, event areas, and inclusive amenities that welcome residents of all ages. From daily strolls to large-scale cultural gatherings, the park serves as a civic anchor in both function and feeling.
Following its success, the city expanded the vision with Peace Park East — an expressive, play-forward space that builds on the themes of healing and community. Here, sculptural seating pods, a grassy bridge, and interactive features like a life-sized chess board and peace sign plaza bring color and joy to the landscape. These playful elements, along with a calm, cohesive paving design using Techo-Bloc’s HD2 Smooth surface, create a unique environment for reflection, recreation, and connection.
Together, Peace Park East and West form a complementary civic duo: one rooted in grounding, the other in expression. Both are unified by thoughtful materials, inclusive layouts, and a shared mission — to make public space a daily part of Dearborn’s cultural life.
